New Delhi: A blast took place when a bomb exploded in a crowded South Delhi market at around 1415 hrs IST on Saturday afternoon. The blast took place almost a fortnight after the serial blasts rocked the national capital.
"The blast took place at around 1415 hrs IST in the market in Mehrauli, close to the historic Qutub Minar,” says a senior police official.
An eyewitness, Vinod Kattar, told CNN-IBN that the explosion took place after two persons dropped a packet from their motorcycle.
“The explosive was packed in a polythene packet and the youths, wearing T-shirts and denim, left the place after dropping it."
“A child picked up the packet and suddenly it exploded,” he adds.
"I was standing some 100 metres from the site. I saw the child picking up the packet and suddenly there was a big sound and smoke," an eyewitness claims.
He says that the motor-cyclists managed to flee from the scene as there was commotion in the area soon after the explosion.
