New Delhi: It should be the costliest vote of this Presidential election. Telugu Desam MP JC Diwakar Reddy, who has been grounded by domestic airlines after he misbehaved with an airport staff member, chartered a flight to New Delhi to cast his vote.
Reddy took a chartered flight from Visakhapatnam after the Hyderabad High Court refused to give him an interim stay to enable him to travel to the capital to vote in Monday's Presidential election and also to participate in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.
Diwakar Reddy has been banned from flying by most airlines after he allegedly created a ruckus at the Visakhapatnam airport on June 15. The MP misbehaved with airline staff and even tried to smash an office printer when he was stopped from boarding by Indigo Airlines for being late. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
After the incident his attempts to get flight tickets with different airlines went in vain.
Reddy then filed a petition in Hyderabad High Court calling the ban illegal. The Court has directed to issue of notices to airlines for their response and posted the case to July 21.
