New Delhi: With the spurt in eating joints available in Delhi/NCR for food lovers to socialize and spend memorable time, it is crucial for restaurants to stand out from other options. The California Boulevard in Gurgaon has all it takes for any restaurant to be remembered by diners.

With unique recipes and best quality food on offer to a gracious chef who comes out of the kitchen to greet the guests, TCB comes across as a perfect slice of comfort and relief in a tough day in Gurgaon.

Like its Delhi counterpart, the Gurgaon branch has the classy Harley Davidson bike parked at the entrance, giving the restaurant the right dose of elegance. Those who have visited Hollywood Boulevard would agree that this eating joint too welcomes guests with a Hollywood Walk of Fame that adorns the flooring.

Since it strictly adheres to the American world and its influences, don’t be surprised if you spot the gallery video wall dedicated to Hollywood celebrities, LA Lakers, the San Francisco tram, and a scroll flashing interesting facts about your favourite international singers.

And while you wait to dig into your most special delicacy you can keep yourself busy with the Charlie Chaplin’s classic comedy that is played on mute. The restaurant also has an al fresco seating which is an ideal option for those planning small parties.

Spread over two floors, the restaurant has enough space to accommodate parties and functions. When I visited The California Boulevard, I was surprised to see how the old folks had taken over the restaurant. It was also quite pleasant to see a group of elderly women laughing away as they shared jokes, chatted over delectable food items and just having a nice time in the comfort of this chic restaurant.

Soon I was joined by chef Karen Rawat. Karen not only does full justice to her job of ensuring guests have a memorable time, but also instilled her love and fervor to each of the dishes offered.

As I skimmed through the menu, I realized that it had all kinds of interesting delicacies such as Asparagus Arugula Salad (Rs 275), Bruschettas (Rs 895 for two), Grilled Lamb Scewers (Rs 1395 for two), Khumb aur Singhade Ki Galouti (Rs 325), Cheese Fondue (Rs 375).

But I wanted to try dishes that were given a completely different spin. That’s precisely why I decided to start the experience with Dilli Ki Chaat (Rs 195). Contradictory to its typical interpretation – it would be a spicy concoction of fried potatoes, sev and papri – I was offered a crisply spinach leave laced with yoghurt, tamrind and mint chutney.

Even though I was tempted to order Malabar Crispy (Rs 175) - crunchy lotus stems and potatoes that are sprinkled with curry leaves – I decided to give Nippon Edamame (Rs 385) a try. If you are in the mood to try a Japanese delicacy, this isn’t the wrong choice. Spanakopita Cheese (Rs 195) and Mexican Veg Chilli (Rs 375) are also worth a mention.

Even though I wasn’t interested on ending the experience with a dessert, their Chocolate Blast was just too visually stunning and lip-smacking to avoid. Since I had watched the recipe of something similar on 'MasterChef’, I couldn’t stop myself from digging into it.

If you are keen on having fun with food, this is the place to head to in Gurgaon.

Our Opinion: The experience here will stay with you forever.
