A fan sarcastically commented, "What a bouncer by the batsman and a perfect duck by a duck."

“Duck”– is a very popular term in the game of cricket. It represents a batter who returns to the pavilion without contributing anything to the scoresheet. In another case when a player bends down to leave a bouncer, that particular process is also called duck. It can mostly be seen in Test cricket where pacers often test the opposition batters with short-length deliveries.

But have you ever seen a “duck” ducking under the ball to leave it like a pro cricketer? It happened during a red-ball game and the hilarious moment was captured on camera. The video was recently dropped by a fan on Instagram, with the title– “Greatest ever duck by a duck.”

The short clip opens with a batter gearing up to face a delivery during a Test match. He played an on-drive, pushing the ball towards the leg cover region. As the camera zoomed in, a duck was spotted sitting inside the 30-yard circle. The ball could have hit the bird but zipped past over its head. The duck looked unfazed about the occurrence. It didn’t move from its position but made sure to lean a bit forward to save its head.

The video took no time to become viral, leaving viewers in splits. Since being dropped on Instagram, the post has received more than 8 lakh views while garnering over 23,000 likes. Joking about the duck’s lazy antics, a user commented, “Nice technique, watched the ball till the very last moment, kept his hands down and ducked at the last moment.”

Another viewer feels “it would have become a golden duck if the ball hit its head.” Notably, in cricket, “golden duck” means a batter losing his wicket in the very first delivery he faces in a match. “I thought that the batsman would be bowled out by the duck,” quipped an individual.

A person put forward a fictional story featuring the batter and the duck. He wrote, “Imagine he got bowled out on duck and the ball rolled through to the duck and the duck ducked, ‘batsmen got out on duck and duck ducked’.” A user sarcastically commented, “Ohh what a bouncer by the batsman and a perfect duck by a duck.”

Cricket enthusiasts across the world have been enjoying the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, underway in the USA and the West Indies. The tournament is currently in its first phase where 20 teams are competing in four groups to secure a spot in the Super 8 round.
